Diamond Origin: Understanding the Journey to a Just Brilliant Jewel

The word origin can refer to more than one part of a jewel's story. For a diamond, it may distinguish geological formation from laboratory growth. For a finished creation, it may raise questions about where the stone was cut or where the jewelry was made.

Just Brilliant's New York beginnings are part of the Maison's identity. The production history of an individual diamond or jewel is a separate subject.

Follow the stages separately

A lab grown diamond can have a growth location, a cutting location and a place where it is set into jewelry. The gold and other materials may have their own documented paths.

A statement about one stage does not establish the location of all the others. Similarly, a retailer's address does not identify the country in which a diamond was grown.

The useful question is specific: which stage is being described, and what documentation supports it?

Understand the scope of a report

A gemological report can identify a stone as laboratory grown and describe assessed characteristics. It should not automatically be treated as a complete record of every business and location involved in the supply chain.

Traceability information needs to correspond to the material or batch it describes. Broader supplier statements and records for an individual stone have different scopes.

For sales in the United States, manufacturing origin claims also carry their own requirements. “Made in USA” should not be inferred from a Maison's American identity.

The Just Brilliant account

The Maison's exclusive D color standard for lab grown diamonds is a clear selection commitment. Its design perspective and craftsmanship values describe how the material is approached as jewelry.

Keeping these statements distinct gives the wearer a more coherent understanding of the creation. A personal brand story, a precise material identity and a documented production fact each contribute something different to the complete account.
